Child inclusive mediation (CIM) is a process designed to bring the child’s voice into the mediation process. CIM utilizes two professionals: a mediator and a child consultant. The child consultant meets with the child to gain understanding of his or her experiences, strengths, challenges, feelings, and needs. The consultant uses this information to formulate feedback for the parents and mediator. After the child consultant meets with the parents and mediator, the mediation process is conducted using the child consultant’s feedback as the foundation of the mediation negotiations.
